AmeriCorps! How do you
feel? “Fantastic, terrific, great, all
day long!” Wow, we are off to a great
start.
We have about 60 Members serving,
making our 8th year of service one to
remember. We are having a blast and are
excited to tell you what we are up to.
This year has truly been invigorating
and inspirational. Thus far we have
fought fires, built bridges,
orchestrated book drives, tutored
hundreds of students, had several
potlucks, origami classes, parties and
much more.
Our Members are fun, talented,
initiators, invigorated and an
inspiration. So come on in, the service
is great!

We have AmeriCorps Members serving in 16
schools and are off to a great partnership.
Here are just a few highlights of what our members are up to.
Andrew McCoy.
Andrew has organized
several sports teams. Recently, he organized a
regional wrestling tournament for high school students from
Missouri, Indiana and Arkansas. Andrew served hard to make this project a reality. One of the referees at the match said that it
was the best ran tournament in St. Louis since the 60’s!
Melinda Whitlow
Melinda’s new
name should be Melinda “Resourceful” Whitten.
She has managed to secure many donations and incentives for students at
Bryan Hill Elementary. Students who read
at least three books will receive meals from Taco Bell.
Faye’s third grade
tutee read
Have You Seen My Duckling.
This is the
first book
he has ever read!
Over 150 students
are now wearing glasses, thanks to LensCrafters
and Members.
