The Missouri
Grape and Wine Program

This website is the most recent initiative in our ongoing mission to spread the word about the quality and availability of Missouri wines and juices

Row of grape vines in mid-summer

The Missouri Grape and Wine Program (GWP) is funded by a six cents-per-gallon tax on wine sales. We coordinate our marketing and public relations activities with wholesalers, restaurant operators, retailers, and the public. Our goals are to strengthen interest in, and patronage of, our state's grape, grape juice and wine industry. We also underwrite Southwest Missouri State University's Fruit Experiment Station in its work with winemakers and grape growers developing grape varieties suitable for Missouri

GWP also hosts the Midwest Regional Grape and Wine Conference, the Missouri Wine Competition and Awards Tasting, and a number of trade and educational seminars for growers, winemakers, and consumers.

This year we're expecting approximately 1.5 million people will visit our 30+ wineries. While we realize our numbers don't approach those of larger wine producing states such as California or Washington, there's clearly no shortage of enthusiasm among wine lovers about what we're accomplishing with our special grape varieties right here in America's heartland.

The word is out - there's a renaissance going on. It's happening in Missouri, and it's truly worth tasting.
