WEB DESIGN

Background

Active online since 1985, I developed the first full-featured commercial websites for Sears Portrait Studios and Fox Photo Finishing in 1995. As connection speeds and computer capacity have increased over the years, my sites have grown in functionality and sophistication.. But their purpose remains the same - to achieve my clients' business objectives, and draw as many qualified consumers as possible. To that end,  I design graphically simple sites that are easy to navigate and focus squarely on my clients' products and services. I purposely avoid introducing animations and other design features that could distract customer attention from our marketing messages.

AmeriCorps St. Louis    ( 2004)    Original version) Website
Designed, wrote and produced this completely new site for the St. Louis chapter of the national organization. The site included 5 sub sites, each focused on the interests and priorities of a specific AmeriCorps online audience.

Animal Protective Association of Missouri  (Original version) Website
Worked with a graphics designer to develop this completely new site to present a warm, new image for this non-profit organization. The site makes it easy for families in the St. Louis area review and select pets for adoption. Pictures and descriptions of animals currently available for adoption are database driven for easy updating by APA staff members.

The site provides a virtual tour of the Fazio's retail facility and the several thousand feet of instrument and amplifier display, instruction studios and repair service areas. Chiliman Chili (St. Louis)   Website
This "tongue-in-cheek" site specifically targets 20-30 year- old men - the primary purchasers of canned chili. The concept was to create an online gathering place for all "True Chillimen"  in the form of a shrine to the “art” of canned chili cuisine.

PayDay Candy Bars
This unusual site, now off-line, was based around photos of a full scale apartment interior constructed just for this site as the system of navigation. The site exclusively targeted males in their early 20's. It won an  Addy award for best site done in St. Louis. The site concept (a bit quaint today) is essentially a computer game in which you explore the interior of the “apartment” and are rewarded by discovering hidden “prizes.“ The site also offers personal information about the young lady who lives in the apartment, along with her collection of recent movie trailers on videotape, and cuts from her collection of the latest rock releases on CD.
